Demijohn News - February 2009
Our News: Where did January go? In between the "Shake off the Winter Blues" parties, which have been in their dozens this year, we have been busy putting the wheels back on the bus as it were. Alastair in Edinburgh has had his Jim'll Fix It overalls on and leapt about with a paint brush to try and tidy our Victoria Street Shop up. Carrie in Glasgow has started the herculean task of updating many of our historic product shots on our website. Over the coming months you will hopefully notice a wonderful bloom of fresh images to brighten the many pages on display and bring to life some of the magical products on offer. Despite a popular belief that January for Company Directors is a time for coffee, long lunches and generally lolling about, I have actually been kept from falling asleep with everything from keeping the tax man happy to getting out there once more and doing a bit more talking! Our joint venture to provide cocktails for the launch night of Edinburgh's newest of Galleries, Art Amatoria, in Bellevue Crescent on 29th Jan, was a roaring success seeing hundreds of wonderful people turn up to be part of the experience. The exhibition continues until 13th February, so if you missed our Demijohn Cocktails bad luck, but at least you might be able to view and buy some of the remaining spectacular works of art. The very next evening, while courageously shrugging off a very nasty touch of flu, I hosted the first of many Demijohn Tasting Evenings in Glasgow for a group of 20 wonderful guests in aid of the Erskine Hospital. The evening, with its Burns Night Theme, was a massive success, somewhat surprising really when Frances reliably informs me that my illness is definitely a unique and virulent strain of "man flu"....how I am still alive I cannot say!
Product News
There is more good news for our lovers of olive oil as we have just had a report from our much cherished Kabbadates Estate in Corfu that their recently completed harvest has produced a first class extra virgin olive oil. This is fabulous news, as the failure of their 2007 harvest due to lack of rainfall left us dry of a first class single estate Greek olive oil for most of 2008. We should have the new harvest in stock by the end of March, ready for the sun coming up over the hills in Scotland and spring bouncing in!
Coming soon: A new Whisky, fresh Corfu olive oil and some new and fruity liqueurs for 2009. More in the next newsletter.
Refill Offer
Remember that there is still time to take up our offer of a 10% discount on your refills if you make it in for a refill before the 28th February 2009. Please read our Refill Offer Terms for full details.
And finally.... don't forget to order those sophisticated Valentine's presents before it is too late, (as I always do!) and please keep the brilliant comments coming on how we are doing by emailing me at info@demijohn.co.uk They are most appreciated!
