10% Discount on refills makes a very Happy New Year!
We are fortunate in Scotland to have two good reasons to party early in the year, Burns Night to celebrate the birth of Scottish poet Robert Burns, born on 25 January 1796, and slightly more romantically Valentine's Day! To make this all a little more rewarding, we are offering an exclusive 10% discount to our customers on Demijohn bottle refills made in store before the end of Feb 2011. Simply request your discount as stated in this newsletter when you next visit! While our heart of Raspberry Vodka might resolve your Valentine conundrum, this year we are fortunate also to have not one, but two new single malt whiskies with which to help celebrate Burns the poet. Our rich 18 Year Old Bunnahabhain Single Islay Malt Whisky 46% and our smooth cask strength 12 Year Old Linkwood Single Malt Whisky 63.1%. Both whiskies would certainly provide a fitting set of drinks to take along to any Burns Night Supper as our Highland & Island Malt Stack or you could try out one of our Burns Night cocktail recipes. Whatever you decide to do, good luck in planning your evening and may "Freedom an' whisky gang thegither!"

Demijohn News - January 2011
Our News:
It has become a tradition for my first letter of the year to reflect on what has happened over the year and this one has certainly been a memorable one. As we entered 2010, it was hard to be too positive, but always the optimist I refused to believe the news! Our newest shop in York, which celebrated its first birthday in September, has enjoyed an exciting and extremely successful year. Much of this is down to your very loyal support to help spread the word that we exist and our Staff's hard work when people make it to the shop. Our reorganisation of the company to manage Customer Services in Edinburgh and allow for smoother mail order packing in Glasgow was successful. While we did not get it all right, of course, despite some of the most challenging logistic conditions for delivery of goods in December, we succeeded in getting all Christmas orders placed before our 18th Dec deadline to their destination by Christmas. Many more orders placed after the deadline still made it. As a company we not only grew by 20% in 2010 but we won the top award for Small Independent Retailers in Scotland in October. So for us 2010 was another good year and we are excited about what 2011 might bring. Thankyou for your loyal help and support throughout the year. Your thoughts and comments really do matter, so please keep them coming.
Staff News
While it is always sad in January to say goodbye to quite a few excellent part time Christmas Staff, there is one bit of good news at least. We are very pleased to announce that Mark Perkins has been promoted to Shop Manager in York. After a short sharp bit of training with Alastair Simpson last week on the job in York, Mark was issued with his wings. Luckily neither he nor the shop has been broken yet, and we wish them both the best of luck! We still also have our Demijohn Christmas party to look forward to, but with date and location still a secret you will need to await my next letter to find out what happened!
Wishing you a very healthy, prosperous and positive 2011,

Angus Ferguson
Managing Director
