Recharge your spirits for Burns Night!
A very Happy New Year to one and all! Frances and I seem inextricably linked to our famous poet Robert Burns as not only do we herald from South West Scotland, but we actually met for our first date just a stone's throw away from Mr Burns' watering hole in Edinburgh between 1786 and 1788, the Beehive Inn! It is only right therefore that we should mark the great Bard's 250th year with a chance for our most loyal customers to recharge their spirits (in a Demijohn bottle of course!) at a 10% discount*
You can refill in time for your Burns night Supper festivities, normally held on 25th January, or by the end of February 2009. So it could be good for other occasions too! Not only will you save 10% on the cost of the refill, but you will also save the price on the original cost of your bottle, an estimated additional 10%. So our special Burns Night Offer makes not only environmental sense but sound financial sense too. If you are not able to refill we understand. So why no treat yourself to our Highland and Island Malt Stack as pictured, a perfect addition to any Burns Night Supper? Burns, I am sure, would have enjoyed recharging his spirits at Demijohn and we hope you do to! Please view our Burns Night Refill Offer terms* for full details.

Demijohn News - January 2009
Our News: December for us marked an extraordinary end to an extraordinary year, as we sailed through successfully ending on a 5 year sales high. Of most note was our mail order department which saw demand rise on an unprecedented scale. We, of course, have you to thank for our continued success, thankyou! Even though my body is still showing signs of excessive wear and tear, Demijohn starts 2009 in a very positive and comparatively strong position. An exciting and optimistic time lies ahead, but as the dust from Christmas settles like the current wintery flurries of snow, I cannot help thinking that we are all going to need something stronger to shake off the January blues this year....well here is an idea then. How about a hosted Demijohn Tasting Evening with friends or work colleagues either in one of our shops or a location of your choice? If you think it would prove unaffordable, well think again, because for group sizes of 10 or more prices start at only £11.50 per person. And the best bit, you, the organiser, gets to attend for FREE! If it sounds like fun then take a look at our Tasting Evening page on our website for full details and get booking. Maybe you will also be rewarded by your work colleagues for suggesting such a good idea? And finally, do not forget to recharge your bottles for your Burns Night Supper and benefit from our 10% refill discount offer while you are at it. Happy planning!
The Art of a Demijohn Cocktail
We have teamed up with a thrilling new Art Gallery in Edinburgh called Art Amatoria to help the gallery's founder, Caroline Hay, launch her first exciting exhibition called Lost at Sea on Thursday 29th January 2009. Demijohn will be mixing an exclusive range of cocktails to complement the impressive works on display. The private view will be run between 6.30 and 9pm in her new gallery in Bellevue Crescent. Full details are available on the Art Amatoria website. So, if you like art and appreciate a good cocktail, well we look forward to seeing you there!
Product News
Our successful Christmas sales period has had only one negative side, stocks of some of our finest products are either dry or dangerously low. We are now on the last few litres of our 2007 Vintage Sloe Gin 20% and our very special cask of Linkwood Single Malt Whisky 50.4% has all but evaporated! If you like these products then either make a plan to visit us soon or contact us now to reserve some stock for you, assuming, of course, you would be happy to pay for it at the time of reservation. To replenish our single malt stocks is never easy, as finding the right taste and quality is something of a black art. But we have been working on a plan to bring a very special Lowland Malt on tap to you for a year or so now, and I can feel it in my bones that we are close to succeeding this time. Watch this space for an announcement of our discovery and hear the full story!
Coming soon: A new Whisky and some new and fruity liqueurs for 2009. More in the next newsletter.
Please keep the ideas coming on how we are doing from your side of the fence by emailing me at info@demijohn.co.uk they are most appreciated!
Wishing you a healthy and prosperous 2009,

Angus Ferguson
