Demijohn News - September & October 2009
The Lord Mayor of York cuts the ribbon to open Demijohn's new York shop, hooray! Our News:  With the successful opening of our new shop at 11 Museum Street in York last month, which was covered extensively by both The Press and The Yorkshire Post, September simply passed me by in a blinding flash of light.  I arrived into October with hair like a hippy, bones aching like a stone mason and a wish to remember what feeling bored was actually like!  Funnily enough, Frances, after looking after our 3 children and 2 dogs, had a similar if not more wearying experience than mine.  Although this could at least be in part to do with the arrival of 4 hens and a kitten
Good looking hens!Very naughty kitten!called Toffee while I was away! The party in York really started at noon on launch day on Wed 16th Sept, with the arrival at our new shop front door of the Lord Mayor of York and the Lady Mayoress.  Played in to ribbon cutting position by our very capable Scots Guards Piper, Sgt Draper, the Lord Mayor, John Galvin, kindly pronouced us open for business as 100's gathered to witness the spectacle.  Smiling like a cheshire cat, I escorted our Honoured guests around our shiny new shelves and shop, touching, talking and tasting as Angus and Lord Mayor doing a little bit of important business!we went.  Finally, while getting stuck into some of our single malts, the Lord Mayor decided where his heart lay.  And so a bottle of Caol Ila was presented to help keep morale high in the Lord Mayor's residence for a few months at least.  We are very grateful to both the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress for taking the time to come and visit us, they will always be welcome at Demijohn.  Certainly, should the Lord Mayor's bottle run dry, at least he knows where he can get a refill!  A series of really fun launch Tasting Evenings then followed over the next few days, with great attendance from many of our enthusiastic Yorkshire customers.  We intend to run more tasting evenings in all our shops at some stage in the future, so if you are not able to gather a group of 10 friends and colleagues and would like to be included on any future sponsored nights, please send me note by email to info@demijohn.co.uk with your name and your contact details.
