Tall, oily and organic!
There has been much talk of us bringing a new olive oil to town. Well, it has finally arrived! Make way for El Campico, our new organic, single estate extra virgin olive oil from Southern Spain. Deliciously fresh, a hint of fruit and velvety smooth. Harvested by hand only a week and a half ago, we think this is probably the first of the newly harvested 2007 olive oils in Britain. You can buy it in our striking new Tulipano 1.5 litre bottle in the Gift Ideas Section of our online shop or by visiting the Olive Oil Section of our online shop to choose your own bottle.
Mail order delivery is normally possible to all UK mainland addresses within 3-5 working days for £6.13 ex VAT. Please contact us directly for delivery requests outside the UK mainland, other charges may apply. For further details on delivery costs and our terms and conditions please visit our website

Demijohn News - October 2007
Our News: If last month was about me talking a lot, October might be considered similar, unless you take into account some of the other activities we have been up to such as the Demijohn team sloe picking trip to Galloway and my little adventure to Corfu! But this is not all, far from it in fact. At the end of September I received an unexpected invitation to feature in an Arizona TV series called The Style Fyle, produced by a fantastically enthusiastic lady, Kerry Damiano. Early one rainy Saturday morning, and with the backdrop of our Glasgow shop, I etched my passion about our business on film. Kerry and her brilliant film crew took it fairly well, I think our Raspberry Vodka may have assisted in translation, I just hope America is ready for it too! From failed b-list film start to intrepid adventurer, I then donned a different, and one might suggest, an enviromentally concious hat. I decided it was time to really do something about our annual shortage of Sloe Gin, something far worse than the World crude oil shortage! So we set about organising a Demijohn sloe picking day on friends and family farms in our home land of Galloway, South West Scotland. Tuesday 2 Oct is now known as Sloe Tuesday, but in order to co-ordinate such a feat, both our shops needed to be closed for the day, (I apologise now for any willing customers who visited and were left locked out!) Luckily the sun shone brightly and despite a long picnic lunch on my parents farm Glenlair, we managed to pick over 150 lbs of sloe in a little over 3.5 hours. We were looked after fantastically well by all the estates we visited, Dalgonar in the morning and Kirkdale in the afternoon, and are extremely grateful for all their help and support. Our hard won fruit is already sitting in the freezers at Tipsage Farm in Worcestershire ready to be used in our 2008 batch of sloe gin. This year's success opens the way for the creation of a sloe picking co-operative for next year, any volunteers? With barely enough time to take my wellington boots off, I boarded the ferry from Venice on 8 Oct to make my first visit the Kabbadates Estate in Corfu, which produces our delicious oil. My visit was designed to increase my knowledge of local Greek production methods and also allow me to check on the progress of their 2007 harvest. Unfortunately severe lack of rain this year is hampering the development of the olives, and therefore depite my misery to find more rain on my arrival, the Corfiots were suprisingly happy and wishing that the rain would continue until Christmas! Let's hope they get their wish and we get less! With my fresh stories of Kabbadates and Corfu, I was well placed to leap into action on the Saturday and Sunday of the Ideal Home Show in Glasgow to talk about olive oil to a seemingly willing audience. Lynne Harris kindly asked me along to be part of the Ideal Theatre and put on an oily performance with Michelle McManus. Lynne and Michelle kindly helped me with my act, and although I cannot profess to have come close to being a Pop Idol like Michelle, my performance on the particularly busy Sunday to 150+ people has prepared me well for my next live stage appearance on olive oil in the Tasting Theatre at the BBC Good Food Show In addition to being on stage, we will also be exhibiting at the show on stand C100 between Fri 2 to Sun 4 Nov in the SECC in Glasgow. We would love to see you, if you think you can make it see below for information on free tickets.

Staff News
We are expanding again in the run up to Christmas and Alastair and Carrie have been kept extremely busy training the next generation of Demijohn recruits. Not only has Kirsty Pollock now happily rejoined us after a short break to perform with a professional dance theatre, but we have 2 new full time members. In Glasgow we have been joined by Carlos Wheeler who has been at Glasgow studying Architecture and in Edinburgh, Imogen Toner has joined us after graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a degree in Fine Art and Print Making. Both have made a fantastic start and within a few weeks will feel like they have been part of the team for ever!
