Last of the Summer Cocktails
Schools may well be starting to go back, but the Summer is certainly not over yet! With Edinburgh in full swing with its Fringe and International Festivals, there is still time for our new Raspberry Fresh Cocktail to help you make the most of the remaining heat and the Bank Holiday weekend ahead. Our ingenious Staff are often coming up with new ideas for cocktails, but this time our York Shop team have come up with a cracker. Our new Raspberry Fresh Cocktail is a delicious pairing of simple flavours, combining our fruity Raspberry Vodka, zesty Lime Vodka and fresh apple juice to make this our Last of the Summer Cocktail favourite. Created from the two drinks in our Raspberry and Lime Vodka Ball, not only could this be your way to celebrate the end of Summer but it could make a brilliantly fun present to take to your next BBQ or dinner party. Be warned however, our Raspberry Fresh Cocktail is so easy to drink it might make you rather fresh too! Take a quick look at our full list of Cocktail and Recipes for even more inspiration.

Demijohn News - August 2011
Our News:
Since I last wrote much has happened other than me beginning life again (I was 40 at the start of the month!). We have been exhibiting in a field in Oxfordshire at the CLA Game Fair and also in a square at the Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival. We have bumped into a huge number of old friends and met a whole heap more. Both of these events were great fun, but it was the organisers of the Huddersfield Food & Drink Festival that were brave enough to let me get up on stage and spout forth about our Demijohn story. Fortunately for me the hospitable Huddersfield locals and friendly festival visitors had heard that they would be able to try a few samples at the end of my talk, so I actually had an audience! A crowd of over 250 on each of the two days was enough to make a grown man sweat. Luckily help was at hand. I was offered an excellent compere in the form of David, and some wonderful volunteers to assist in handing out my samples. What I didn't bank on was what happened moments before I started my first talk, while I poured out my drinks. Of course it was vital for David to to try my drinks samples to understand what I going to talk about. Unfortunately by the time he had tasted our Brammle Scotch Whisky Liqueur, Seville Orange Gin, Organic Rhubarb Vodka Liqueur and Spiced Rum Liqueur poor David's compereing skills were a little compromised and he needed a few moments to recover! As a result I was forced to start without him in full compere flow, buoyed only by the crowd's enthusiastic anticipation of tasting some samples themselves! If you haven't had a chance to meet us out and about this Summer do not panic. We will exhibiting next during the last 3 days of the York Food & Drink Festival on 23rd, 24th and 25th September in York, and it promises to be an excellent event for the whole family.
Product News - Soon to smell of Elderberries!
Monty Python of course alerted us all to the wonderfully comic aroma of the elderberry. But having picked the blossom of the Elder in June this year for our Elderflower Vinegar, we are now engaged with having to source the delicious berries to assist in the preparation of two new products soon to hit the Demijohn shelves this Autumn. With our Elderberry Wine already a big hit, we are keen to introduce not just a new liqueur using the fruit but also a new fruit vinegar. Our main issue will, of course, be a steady supply of fruit as it requires to be hand picked from hedgerows around Britain. We may need to mobilise the troops again to forage wild fruit once more for ourselves...any willing volunteers out there? Step forward now or watch this space!

Staff News
We can announce two fantastic new additions to our gang. Andrew McCrae, an undergraduate at Edinburgh University studying for an MSC in Computer Science, joined our Edinburgh Team at the start of August. Being thrown head first into the festival crowds has meant his feet have barely touched the ground! Gareth Jones, who is a graduate in Film and TV Production from York University, joins our York Team at the end of August and has it all to learn. As an accomplished musician, he will certainly be in tune with Mark Perkins (York Shop Manager) and Tim Fox (York Assistant Shop Manager) who are also talented musicians!
Next Month in The Demijohn News....
The theme is "good with cheese." Not only do I personally have a fondness for the stuff, but we happen to have a stock of delightful drinks that go rather well with a slice of.... better stop now it is making me hungry!
