Something of a treat...

Our News:
 Our York shop is in the spotlight for two reasons this Month, elderberry picking and romance! Our new Elderberry Gin Liqueur's popularity has caused us somewhat of a problem, we did not have enough elderberries to satisfy the strong demand for this delicious rich tasting drink. However, Mark, Tim and Gareth from our York Shop, with a couple of their willing friends volunteered themselves for a furious session of picking elderberries in the fields around Wetherby, West Yorkshire in the last week of September. Raiding the hedgerows to handpick  elderberries, like gathering the blossom of the elder, or elderflower, which we normally do in June for our Elderflower Vinegar, comes with its challenges. It is hard work and carries with it a good chance of getting prickled or stung by natures less nice hedgerow elements! One of the hidden problems is the effect of the juice from those lovely berries. Appearing back in the shop that day, Mark described himself as having being shot with stains of elderberry juice everywhere. One can only imagine the sight  that confronted customers! But there is a romantic twist in this hedgerow raiding tale. One of our own has recently got married. Yazzmin Wild, or Mrs Carter as she is now known. Yazzmin wed Guy on Sat 17 Sept. We feel a special part of this wedding for a number of reasons, not least because Yazzmin is such a wonderful member of our York Shop team but during our elderflower picking in June she dragged her then Fiancee Guy along to help pick too. It is only right therefore that on her actual wedding day she should drag Guy once more into the Demijohn shop to take this fantastic photograph! We wish them both the best of luck for their many happy years ahead.

Event News
With the five biggest events of the year still to go, we have only just begun our Christmas Fair season. Next stop is the Scottish BBC Good Food Show in Glasgow next week. We will be in the thick of the action as usual on Stand D126 in the Producers' Village. We will also have a little dribble of our newly arrived Balsamic Vinegar to try for those who are clever enough to ask. Hopefully we will see you there?
