DEMIJOHN REPORT MASSIVE 80% RISE IN ONLINE SALES

Scotland’s first liquid deli, Demijohn, reports a massive increase in online sales with an 80% increase from the same period last year. Following the revamping of their website late last year plus a concerted PR campaign, sales have rocketed.

Despite the recession Demijohn has, unlike many other retailers, experienced an overall sales increase, with retail up 19% for the first six months of the year, and mail order and online sales up over 80% from its website – www.demijohn.co.uk.

Demijohn created the concept of a liquid deli, offering customers delicious liquid products – from quirky liqueurs such as Gooseberry Gin and Elderflower Vodka to top quality oils and vinegars – Raspberry Vinegar and 25 year old Balsamic Vinegar. Its speciality is its eco-credentials where customers choose the size and shape of the re-useable glass bottles.

Demijohn Owner Angus Ferguson says: “We are very fortunate to be benefiting from a growing ‘eat-in’ market in Britain, where our products are used to make a dinner party at home a really exciting and special occasion.  The strength in the visitor market within both Edinburgh and Glasgow is also helping us to stay ahead.  We are a success story for small business in Scotland, in growing our sales despite the challenges of a recession.  The growth of the internet in general, coupled with our new website and a heightened awareness of us and our products has been a big part of this growth. For a niche company of only 5 years old we have created a solid customer base, which is growing daily.

“Our research has also shown that cocktails are becoming ever more popular, with our products being used as the base drink for these cocktail. Many unique tastes within our wide range of drinks, all of fabulous quality, mean that are products are constantly in demand.”

Demijohn’s success so far this year is allowing it to consider expansion by opening a further shop south of the border in the near future.
