For the first time in years Demijohn is expanding its vinegar range and has just sourced a heavenly Damson Vinegar. The colour of rich, dark velvet with a delicious dry plum-like taste, it is quite unlike any other.

Made in Warwickshire by Lin Whitehead it is an unusual vinegar and celebrates the revival of old fruits, such as damsons. When combined with Demijohn’s Villa Montalbano Extra Virgin Olive Oil it becomes an explosive and beautiful dressing for a summer salad. However, its strength of flavour also makes it perfect for boosting sauces, especially red meats and game.

Fruit vinegars are highly versatile products as they can jazz up any green salad or have a much wider use in sauces or even mixed with sparkling water to make a refreshing long non-alcoholic drink. Demijohn has pioneered fruit vinegars from around the UK and created a demand for these delectable liquids.

Angus Ferguson from Demijohn says: “We have been looking for a while for another fruit vinegar to compliment our range and our Damson Vinegar has hit the spot with its distinctive balance of fruit sweetness and vinegar sharpness.  It’s rich plumy flavour make it a cheaper alternative to balsamic vinegar for dressing salads.  Damsons have long been a popular British fruit, but what makes this vinegar really special for us is that the fruit is actually grown by one our gin liqueur producers in Worcestershire, giving it a delightful British provenance as well as taste!”
