The Demijohn team love combing the hedgerows for berries and flowers to convert into delicious drinks and vinegars. Its latest Gin - Elderberry Gin - could be called ‘the British hedgerow in a bottle’, such is its rich taste and colour.

These rich dark berries have been infused in Dry London Gin and sugar to create a dry liqueur that is heavenly with cheese after dinner in place of port. Picked by hand in Cheshire, artisan producer Rosie Sedgewick has created this new drink after spying clusters of elderberries in the hedgerows. The result is a deep coloured liqueur that is like no other.

Given that elderberries grow wild, supply is limited so order quickly. It is priced from £4.90/100ml.

If it runs out too quickly don’t despair as Demijohn’s other autumnal gin – Damson Gin – is equally delicious. Damsons have made a comeback as traditional fruits have grown in popularity and this fruity, dry after dinner drink is a lovely way to try them. Smoother and fruitier than Sloe Gin, Damson Gin is equally good as a tipple when out on a winter’s walk.

Demijohn Owner Angus Ferguson says: “Winter is a time when drinking gins by the fire is a favourite pastime of many! Our new Elderberry Gin has been created by one of our adventurous producers and its taste will not disappoint. We are even experimenting on some Elderberry Cocktails for cold winter’s evenings.”
