Demijohn Press Release

NEW SUMMER CITRUS VODKAS LAUNCHED BY DEMIJOHN

10th July 2008

Raspberry & Lime Vodka BallCocktail time is here with the arrival of two great new vodka liqueurs from Demijohn. Lime Vodka from Worcestershire is the perfect base to a summer cocktail while Lemon Vodka provides an ideal pudding sauce.

Limes and vodka have long been associated together but this new Lime Vodka Liqueur is a cut above the rest with the combination of sharp limes and punchy vodka.  Mix one part Lime Vodka with 2 parts Ginger Beer for the ultimate Moscow Mule or for a fashionable Mohito mix 1 part Lime Vodka with 2 parts of Demijohn’s Spiced Rum Liqueur and some sparkling water, crushed ice and mint leaves.

Lime Vodka is one of the most versatile of all drinks – it can be served as a palate cleanser between main and pudding courses, or as a shot with Smoked Salmon or Gravadlax. Created by liqueur makers Colin and Phyllis Hingston it is set to become a Demijohn bestseller.

Our refreshing new Lemon Vodka Liqueur 22.5% is like a refined LimoncelloDemijohn’s new Lemon Vodka Liqueur is made in Powys in Wales and is much sweeter and smoother than the Lime Vodka. It has been likened to a very refined version of the infamous Southern Italian liqueur Limoncello and is ideally drunk after dinner straight from the deep freeze while enjoying the late summer sunshine.

For a sophisticated vanilla ice cream pudding add a splash of Lemon Vodka and let your guests soak up the summer flavours. It can also be served as a long pre-dinner drink with tonic, ice and a slice of lemon.

Demijohn Owner Angus Ferguson says: “Cocktails are making a huge comeback with Edinburgh being named the Mohito Capital of the World. Our two new vodka liqueurs provide the perfect easy base to many cocktails. We have sourced them from small producers whose main aim is to make liqueurs that are consistently the best.

“The perfect summer present is our Ying Yang bottles (shown at the top) of Lime Vodka Liqueur and Raspberry Vodka Liqueur made from Scottish raspberries. Shaped like a ball their flavours are the essence of summer and both make delicious cocktail bases or as drinks on their own. Priced at £20 it is an innovative and appreciated gift.”

The essence of the Demijohn shops is for customers to taste each product before purchasing. The shops are simple and eco-friendly with wooden shelves of large glass Demijohns (large glass bottles traditionally used for storing wines and spirits from which the deli takes its name.) Customers choose their product and the size and shape of glass bottle, which can then be re-filled when empty.

The Lime and Lemon Vodka Liqueurs can either be purchased from Demijohn’s shops in Edinburgh or Glasgow, or from the online shop –  www.demijohn.co.uk
