This popular gift set comprises of 2 of our beautiful 200ml Ducale bottles filled with our wonderful 25 year old Balsamic Vinegar from Modena and our fresh Tuscan single estate ....moreVilla Montalbano Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our balsamic has been made by the Tagliavini family at their Acetaia at Ponterotto, Soliera, just North of Modena which my Wife and I visited at the end of March 2005. The skills used in creating such fine products have been harnessed by their family over hundreds of years. Traditional Balsamic Vinegar can be used in a multitude of ways, on undercut beef, on Parmesan Cheese or over strawberries or ice cream. Its taste will never disappoint and will even remain in good useable condition for a further 25 years. The Olive Oil is from Villa Montalbano, a beautiful Scottish owned Single Estate near Pistoia. Harvesting for this oil actually took place in mid to late November 2009. Villa Montalbano had consistently produced a first class Tuscan extra virgin olive oil from its harvests and this oil is no exception. Its true quality lies is in its freshness. It has an exciting and concentrated taste as a result of it being a relatively early harvest for Tuscany. If you have never tried a really fresh oil it is never to late to start, as it is in a league of its own. Oil that is only a month or so old is alive and kicking with a concentrated fresh grassy taste. Its luminescent green colour, caused by floating fibres that are yet to settle, enlivens the palate ready for the explosion of pepper at the end. This is definitely worth getting out of bed for! ...less
