Our Demijohnnie Gin 50% is a deliciously smooth spirit, despite its alcoholic strength. We have bottled our Demijohnnie Gin as a miniature in our charming Apotheker 40ml bottle, a great bottle size for wedding favours and corporate gifts.
How is it best drunk?
Demijohnnie Gin is not only a wonderful gin for G&T drinkers or gin cocktail fans such as the Martini, but its strength of flavour means it can be served over ice to sip in a seriously grown up way. If you are to drink it as a G&T, after quite a bit of experimentation with various types of Indian Tonic Water, we believe our Walter Gregor's Tonic from Aberdeenshire offers one of the best complimentary flavours available to enhance your G&T experience. If you are as keen on gin as us, then don't forget our other gin liqueurs and spirits: Seville Orange Gin, Gooseberry Gin, Sloe Gin, Damson Gin, Blackcurrant Gin, Black Cherry Gin and occasionally a delightful Wild Bullace Gin.
How is this made?
A gin such as Demijohnnie Gin, which is based on a London Gin recipe, is made by the redistillation of pure grain spirit in conjunction with a selection of botanicals for flavouring. The predominant flavouring of all gin must be juniper berries but each boutique gin uses different additional botanicals. We rather like the qualities of this one, which incorporates 3 additional botanicals that of coriander seed, angelica root and rubbed savory (aka the bean herb). It is the citrus background taste from the coriander seed, however, that makes this particular gin quite so dry. This dry flavour was evident when Gin was first introduced to the UK from the Netherlands in the 17th Century.
