Spinelli Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced from olives grown near Arezzo in Tuscany and is a welcome addition to our collection of delicious oils and dressings. This first class Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil was harvested by hand by the Spinelli Family in late November 2025. It is absolutely bursting with classic Tuscan flavour and the aroma of fresh olives, along with an exciting amount of amaro or pepper.
How is it best used?
Spinelli Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a relatively strong flavoured olive oil, so it is wonderful when used to dress salads either with or without some of our stronger flavoured balsamic vinegars and fruit vinegar dressings such our Black Garlic Balsamic Vinegar, Aronia Berry Balsamic Vinegar or our fruity Scottish Raspberry Vinegar.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil can also be used to cook with, normally at lower temperatures, and really excites flavours when drizzled over just about any food recipe.
Fibre within this unfiltered Extra Virgin Olive Oil creates a wonderful, smooth, velvety texture on the tongue. Combined with the aroma of fresh olives or newly mown grass, it is truly delightful to taste.
Please be aware that any natural fibre will settle after time and can then be used for adding a little extra flavour into your cooking. A simple drizzle of this oil on a strong green leafed salad, with possibly a little cracked salt over the top, and you will have released a little magic.
Please also be aware that stocks of early extra virgin olive oil are always very limited, and this year there has been a very low yield from all estates in Tuscany, so it's first come first served!
How is this made?
Spinelli Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil was recommended to us by Tuscan Olive Oil expert and top producer, Mark Ridley. It is produced by the Spinelli Family using their family mill located in the medieval walls of Castello di Larciano, close to the town of Pistoia, where Mark's Villa Montalbano Extra Virgin Olive Oil is produced.
The Spinelli mill is special because it has been passed within the Spinelli family, from Father to Son, ever since being founded in 1711. While the walls of the mill remain original, the equipment for milling olives has been updated to allow it to produce first class Tuscan Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The olives were picked by hand by Signora Spinelli and his team of family and friends over a 10 day period in late November 2025, from olive groves close to the historic hill top town of Arezzo which lies in Eastern Tuscany.
The olives are pressed mechanically ensuring the Extra Virgin status of the oil is preserved. The required maximum acidity for Extra Virgin Oil is 0.8% or lower.
