A charming 120g box of Blackthorn Scottish Sea Salt Flakes. These Scottish Sea Salt Crystals are made locally for us by friends Gregorie and Whirly Marshall using the nothing more than sea water and wind on the West Coast of Scotland, near Ayr.
Their first class, handmade sea salt uses an ancient and sustainable Tower method to create the salt crystals. The result is a really well rounded taste.
If you would like your foods to taste amazing, whether on a fillet steak or roasted vegetables, then just sprinkle some salty magic on to your ingredients and enjoy the riot on your taste buds!
Blackthorn Salt Crystals can be used as a finishing salt that gives a beautiful, lasting, moreish and clarity to flavours, such as over fresh salad leaves that have been dressed with a Demijohn Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
However, this Scottish Salt is also fabulous when used in sauces, baking, roasting, brining, dry-brining, curing, salting or fermenting.
Blackthorn Scottish Sea Salt Flakes are made by evaporating Scottish West Coast Seawater through a sustainable Thorn Tower. The slowly grown natural salt crystals are harvested by hand which enhances their flavour. The distinctive mineral array has been carefully retained giving characteristics which complement the palate incredibly well.
The salt crystals have a beautiful, well rounded taste which is rare for salt. Blackthorn Salt Crystals have magnesium and potassium which provide bitter and sour notes, calcium for the sweetness, sodium chloride for the salty and even tannins from the Blackthorn branches used in the Tower, with their earthy savoury element, giving a hint of umami and an incredibly long-lasting taste sensation.
Blackthorn Salt Crystals are Organic approved; Kosher; and even won a Great Taste Awards double star in 2021. The beautiful little box is free from any plastics, is sustainably sourced and fully recyclable.
