Glenlair Feastival named as one of the most important events in South West Scotland

Now in its second year, Demijohn’s music festival on the farm, Glenlair Feastival, has been recognised by Scotland Starts Here as one of South West Scotland’s most important and influential events of 2025.
Sponsored by Demijohn, Scotland’s award winning liquid deli, Glenlair Feastival is a music, food & drink festival which will take place at Glenlair Steading near Castle Douglas on Sat 16th August.
Unique to Scotland, this boutique family friendly festival is all about highlighting little known Scottish musical talent as well as the very best of local food and drink.
The musical line up will include little known Scottish artists such as The Aberlady Sessions from East Lothian and local Dumfries band Pedro & the Pirates, with additional performances from a number of emerging Dumfries & Galloway young musicians sponsored by Up Yer Airts.
Demijohn’s flagship store at Glenlair Steading will be open for tastings of their unique range of handmade, sustainable food & drink.
Hungry festival goers will be able to enjoy a selection of other local artisan food producers such as Earth’s Crust Bakery from Castle Douglas, Swally & Scran from Kirkcudbright as well as some dangerously drinkable creations from the now famous Demijohn Cocktail Bar.
Angus Ferguson, Owner of Demijohn said: “As we celebrate 21 years of Demijohn this year, our festival theme has to be “Forever Young!” We are hugely pleased that Glenlair Feastival has been recognised as a benefit to our rural local economy. Our aim is to bring visitors from all over the World to enjoy Galloway and our small festival helps us do that. Thanks go to both David Hope-Jones, SSDA CEO, and Simon Hart, D&G Arts Festival Director, for their support and continued efforts to help us promote our region. I believe with a passion that combining great music with some delicious local food & drink provides another reason for people to visit South West Scotland.”
Glenlair Feastival will take place at Glenlair Steading near Castle Douglas on Sat 16th August 2025 between 10am and 10pm. Overnight camping is available if required. Adult tickets start at £25 and are on sale now via the Demijohn website:

Note to Editors:
Glenlair Feastival was first run in 2024 to celebrate Demijohn’s 20th year in business and was so popular it has become an annual event. Glenlair Steading is architecturally significant and was restored in 2023 as the new home of Demijohn, Scotland’s award winning liquid deli. The steading’s beautiful stone walls lend themselves easily to become a sheltered theatre for performing arts. Glenlair is also historically famous for having been the home of Scottish Physicist James Clerk Maxwell.
Up Yer Airts are delighted to be partnering with Glenlair Festival to showcase the best up-and-coming young local talent that Dumfries and Galloway has to offer. As an organisation led by young people, they are out to push the boundaries of what is possible for the region and supporting the incredible grassroots music culture of the region while working to make sure Dumfries & Galloway is recognised as an area of artistic importance for national musicians.
Liam Russell, Director of Up Yer Airts: “As always it is a privilege to be able to present such a diverse and talented line up of local young musicians, this time at Galloway’s newest summer music festival. We strive to provide support and opportunities to young people seeking to carve out a career in music and help them get their feet on the ladder. This is only just the beginning for these artists, and we cannot wait to continue our work with them whilst building a community round about the work we do!”
